About William

William Lewis is a PGA Professional and legendary figure in Atlanta's golf community, based at John A. White Golf Course in southwest Atlanta. A Huntsville, Alabama native, William held the course record at John A. White with a score of 61. He competed on the mini-tour circuit, won the Atlanta Open (1978) and the Greensboro Open (1979, 1981), and made the finals at PGA Tour Qualifying School in 1981. As Head Instructor of Golf with the First Tee at John A. White since 1999, William has dedicated nearly two decades to developing junior golfers in the Atlanta community. He is a member of the National Black Golf Hall of Fame and the Huntsville/Madison County Athletic Hall of Fame.
