About Alan

Alan Hamper is a PGA Golf Professional formerly associated with the historic Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, one of Southwest Florida's landmark golf facilities that operated for 75 years before closing in 2021 for redevelopment into the Naples Beach Club, a Four Seasons resort. The course, where a young Jack Nicklaus first broke 40 for nine holes, has been redesigned by Tom Fazio as part of the luxury redevelopment and remains an 18-hole facility protected by a historic conservation easement. Alan brings decades of experience from this iconic Naples institution, providing instruction informed by deep knowledge of Gulf Coast golf.

Golf Lessons in Naples — FAQ

How much do golf lessons cost in Naples?
Private 60-minute lessons typically range $75–$175. Junior lessons run $40–$80 per session. Many instructors offer package discounts of 10–20%.
Do I need to be a club member to take a lesson?
Most teaching pros accept non-members at their club's practice facility. Check the instructor's club affiliation — a few private clubs restrict lessons to members and guests.
How many lessons do I need as a beginner?
Most beginners feel comfortable on a full course after 6–10 lessons. The first 2–3 sessions cover grip, stance, and basic swing mechanics. Budget $400–$800 for a solid introductory package.
Are GrumpyGopher instructors certified?
Every credential badge (PGA, LPGA, TPI, USGTF) shown on a profile has been verified. Listings without a badge have not yet provided proof of certification.
