About Charles

Charles H. Johns IV is the General Manager of Golf and Sports Turf at the Hackler Course at Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina. Originally from Verona, Pennsylvania, Johns came to CCU as a business student in 2000 and interned at Pine Lakes Country Club in Myrtle Beach before being hired by the university in 2005 as its first assistant golf professional. He was elected to PGA membership in December 2005 and has served in progressively senior roles at the Hackler Course, including Head Golf Professional and Director of Golf. Under his leadership, the course has experienced 35 percent growth and expanded its role as a training ground for students in CCU's PGA Golf Management Program. Johns was honored as the 2016 Carolinas PGA Merchandiser of the Year in the public category and continues to support the development of future golf professionals through his work with PGM interns and staff.
