Golf Lessons in Los Angeles — FAQ
How much do golf lessons cost in Los Angeles?
Private 60-minute lessons typically range $75–$175. Junior lessons run $40–$80 per session. Many instructors offer package discounts of 10–20%.
Do I need to be a club member to take a lesson?
Most teaching pros accept non-members at their club's practice facility. Check the instructor's club affiliation — a few private clubs restrict lessons to members and guests.
How many lessons do I need as a beginner?
Most beginners feel comfortable on a full course after 6–10 lessons. The first 2–3 sessions cover grip, stance, and basic swing mechanics. Budget $400–$800 for a solid introductory package.
Are GrumpyGopher instructors certified?
Every credential badge (PGA, LPGA, TPI, USGTF) shown on a profile has been verified. Listings without a badge have not yet provided proof of certification.

I started off with an inclination that I wanted to play golf and foolishly purchased a driver to use at the range. My golf swing was horrid and the rare time I could get the ball in the air, I would shank it to the left or right. I was not having fun playing golf.
It wasn't until I started taking lessons from Danny that I learned about the game of golf. Through him, I was able to understand the different uses for clubs, understanding the impact your body sway/motion has to do with your swing, and the philosophy of golf.
His lessons consisted of using modern science to take some of the mystery out of the game and how it could be used to diagnose bad habits.
Self learning made me develop some terrible habits that stunted my growth and one them was my unorthodox swing that left strain on my lead wrist. Danny was able to pinpoint what the problem was and gave me some minor drills to alleviate it. Definitely nice to have someone with experience and a modern approach to fix my issues.
Many things can be self-learned but unfortunately I don't think golf is one of them. I'm glad to have taken lessons from Danny and greatly believe my enjoyment in the game is from the lessons.
