Horace taught three generations of golfers in my family - and unfortunately I was the last generation to benefit from his wisdom and teaching style, because I would have loved for my sons to be part of the fourth generation to benefit from his teachings. A brilliant instructor who loved the game and had the knack to teach a calm and effortless approach that targeted the zen-ness of golf - balanced with an analogy to life’s experiences for each of his students. As a child I would prefer to hit balls in the lower level at the arroyo - back when there was an upper level above us…. And if I wasn’t getting a lesson, my father and I chose to hit next to Horace’s teaching spot (and next to his Datsun Z he parked nearby if memory serves) and I could hear his lessons as I practiced. You will be missed my teacher. And as my son at this very moment receives lessons at the arroyo I think of you fondly.
