Christopher Musson is a PGA golf instructor at Spyglass Hill Golf Course in Pebble Beach, a course that represents one of the most demanding and beautifully designed challenges in California golf — opening on the Pacific headlands before routing through the dense pine corridors of the Del Monte Forest for a second nine that demands precise shot-shaping and an honest accounting of each student's actual shot dispersion. Teaching at a course that strips away the margin for error available on wider, more forgiving layouts accelerates the learning process for students who are serious about improvement: the Spyglass back nine tells the truth about ball-striking in a way that a driving range or a recreational municipal course simply cannot replicate.
